Business coaching in Ireland: what it is and what it is not

“Business coach” covers a lot of ground in Ireland, from motivational speakers to semi-retired consultants to people with a weekend certificate and a Zoom account. So it is worth being precise about what we do.

What it is

A structured working relationship with someone whose job is to improve your business and hold you to what you said you would do.

You meet regularly. You work to a plan you built. You review real numbers. Your coach brings a tested framework and the questions you have been avoiding.

What it is not

  • Consultancy. Nobody hands you a strategy document. You build the plan and your coach makes sure it is the right one and that it actually happens.
  • Mentoring. A mentor shares their experience when you ask. A coach works to a system and chases you.
  • A course, or therapy. The measure is what changed in the business.

Who it suits

Coaching works best for owners of established Irish businesses, usually past the survival stage, with a team, real turnover and genuine ambition. It works badly for anyone hoping to buy a solution rather than build one.

What it costs

Fees are set against the size and profitability of your business rather than a flat rate, and agreed openly before you commit to anything. You will get a specific figure at your strategy session. We have written more about this on our pricing page.
